Ingredients

  • 150g cornmeal
  • 50g wheat flour
  • 50g food starch
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 120g butter
  • 150g quark (or plain yogurt)
  • 3 eggs

      Step by Step Instructions

      Step 1

Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F) with both top and bottom heat. Grease and flour a 30cm loaf pan.

      Step 2

In a bowl, combine cornmeal, all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and basil.

      Step 3

In another bowl, mix together the eggs, melted butter, and quark (or plain yogurt).

      Step 4

Combine the wet and dry ingredients, stirring until a smooth batter forms. Use a hand mixer for a thorough mix.

      Step 5

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

      Step 6

Allow the bread to cool in the pan for a few minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
