About this Recipe

By: Marija

When stored properly in sterilized jars with a tight seal, your plum compote can last up to 6-12 months in a cool, dark pantry.

Once opened, keep it in the refrigerator, where it will stay fresh for 2-3 weeks.

If you prefer longer storage, you can freeze the compote, where it will remain good for up to 6-8 months.

Always check for any signs of spoilage, such as off smells or mold, before using.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg plums, pitted and quartered
  • 200 g sugar
  • 500 ml water
  • half a teaspoon cardamom
  • half a teaspoon cloves
  • 1 cinnamon stick or half a teaspoon podwer

    Step by Step Instructions

    Step 1

Wash the plums, pit them, and cut them into quarters.

    Step 2

Place the quartered plums in a pot.

    Add water and sugar.

Add half amounts of cardamom, cloves, and cinnamon stick.

    Step 3

Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to let it simmer gently.

Let the plums simmer for about 20 minutes until they are soft and juicy. Stir occasionally.

    Step 4

Pour the still-hot compote into the jars, then place the lid on tightly to create a vacuum seal as it cools. This helps preserve freshness and prevent spoilage.
