Ingredients

  • Peels from 1 kg of apples
  • 500 ml water
  • 250 g granulated sugar
  • A splash of lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon cardamom powder

    Step by Step Instructions

    Step 1

Begin by thoroughly washing the peels from 1 kg of apples.

In a pot, combine the apple peels and 500 ml of water.

Allow the mixture to simmer for about 15 minutes. This step infuses the water with the essence of the apple peels.

    Step 2

After simmering, strain the liquid through a sieve or fine mesh strainer, collecting the infused liquid in the pot.

    Step 3

To the pot of infused liquid, add 250 g of granulated sugar.

Squeeze in a splash of lemon juice to brighten the flavors.

Incorporate 1 teaspoon of cardamom powder to lend a warm and aromatic note to the syrup.

    Step 4

Place the pot back on the stove over medium heat.

Allow the mixture to gently simmer for approximately 20-30 minutes.

As the mixture simmers, it will reduce and thicken, developing the characteristic consistency of syrup.

    Step 5

To check if the syrup has reached the desired thickness, you can perform a spoon test. Dip a spoon into the syrup and let it coat the back of the spoon. If the syrup remains in a thick layer without running off too quickly, it’s ready.

    Step 6

Once the syrup has achieved the ideal consistency, remove it from the heat and let it cool.

Transfer the cooled syrup to a clean and airtight glass container for storage.
