Ingredients
- 4 eggs
- 2 cups sugar (or more, as desired)
- 2 packs vanilla sugar
- A pinch of salt
- 4-5 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 8 tablespoons rapeseed oil
- 300g applesauce
- 1 glass morello cherries
- Powdered sugar (optional for topping)
Step by Step Instructions
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
Step 2
In a large mixing bowl, combine eggs, sugar, vanilla sugar, and a pinch of salt. Mix well.
Step 3
Add cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, rapeseed oil, and applesauce. Stir until the batter is smooth and well combined.
Step 4
Grease a baking form and pour in the batter.
Step 5
Drain the morello cherries from the juice and spread them evenly on top of the batter.
Step 6
Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Optional: Dust the cooled cake with powdered sugar before serving.
