Ingredients

  • 2 sheets of puff pastry
  • Tomato paste
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Cheese slices (e.g., cheddar or mozzarella)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Sesame seeds

    Step by Step Instructions

    Step 1

Preheat your oven to 200°C (392°F).

Unroll the sheet of puff pastry on a lightly floured surface.

    Step 2

Evenly spread a thin layer of tomato paste over the entire sheet of puff pastry.

Sprinkle a pinch of salt and a dash of black pepper over the tomato paste.

    Step 3

Place slices of cheese on top of the tomato paste, covering the surface.

Lay another sheet of puff pastry, then cut into triangles. Starting from the wider end, roll each triangle up towards the point to form croissant shapes.

In a small bowl, beat the egg. Brush each croissant with the egg wash.

    Step 4

Sprinkle sesame seeds over the top of the croissants.

Place the croissants on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, or until they are golden brown and puffed up.

Allow the croissants to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm.
