Ingredients

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry
  • Fresh cheese (such as cream cheese or ricotta)
  • 1 zucchini
  • Salt (optional)
  • Black pepper (optional)

    Step by Step Instructions

    Step 1

Preheat your oven to 200°C (392°F).

Unroll the sheet of puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Spread an even layer of fresh cheese over the entire sheet of puff pastry.

    Step 2

Trim the top and bottom ends of the zucchini. Thinly slice the zucchini into rounds, working your way down the vegetable. The slices should be very thin to ensure they bend easily and cook properly.

Cut the puff pastry into 5 long strips.

    Step 3

Place the zucchini rounds along one long edge of each puff pastry strip, slightly overlapping each slice. Fold the other long edge of the puff pastry strip over the bottom half of the zucchini slices.

Starting from one end, roll the puff pastry strip all the way to the other end, forming a flower or rose shape.

    Step 4

Lightly oil a muffin tin or line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place each rolled puff pastry zucchini flower into a muffin cup or on the parchment paper.

Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden brown and cooked through.

Allow the zucchini flowers to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.
