Make easy Apple Pie with this simple recipe!

I don’t precook the apples before adding them to the crust. Instead i chop them finely, drain them in a colander for about 15 minutes to avoid the remaining moisture.

After that i add them in a large bowl with sugar, salt and spices, Cornstarch and ground almonds.

Salt and sugar work on the apples to help them release their liquid.

Cornstarch and ground almonds will help thicken the rest of the liquid as the pie bakes in the oven.

Ingredients

For the dough:

360 grams of flour

220 g  margarine or butter

A pinch of salt

3 tbsp sugar

3 tablespoons water

For the filing:

700 grams of apples

150 grams of raisins

100 grams of almonds

100 grams of sugar

a pinch of salt

1 tsp cinnamon

2 tsp grated lemon zest

3 tbsp cornstarch

 

 

    Step by Step Instructions

    Step 1

    Mix all the ingredients for the dough together with a mixer (dough hook) or with your hands to form a smooth dough. Wrap the dough in cling film and chill for about 40 minutes.

    Step 2

    Grate the lemon. Wash apples, fourth, core and chop in a food processor. Drain the apples in a colander for about 15 minutes to avoid the remaining moisture.

     

    Step 3

    Pour the apple mixture into a bowl, add the remaining ingredients and mix well.

    Step 4

    Lay out two-thirds of the dough on a floured work surface thinly and slightly larger than the tin. Press the dough on the edges to line the baking mold with it. Cut off the excess pastry at the edge. Fill in the apple filling and press down slightly. Roll out the remaining dough, cut into strips or other shapes as desired and place over the apples.

    Step 5

    Bake at 180°C for approx. 50 min.
